Update finally

Here’s some writing from the journal I’ve sort of been keeping. Can’t always post here, because sometimes internet is hard to find.

Sunday was more chill as people nursed hangovers and Marie’s parents fed us again(thanks!).

Here’s Marie:

We headed to a picturesque water fall and watched Shawn try to climb into a cave. He fell shortly after this photo was taken and somehow escaped getting hurt.

Next we relaxed at the Sushwap lake for a few hours before heading to enderby to hit up the skate park. It was super hot out, and riding was too much, so we went back to the Sushwap for a few hours to swim and cook food.

July 9th 2009

Monday we finally got an oil change on the van, then went to a café with internet in salmon arm. We hung around town for a bit until the bands played a show at the Hideaway. Once again the bands played a killer set and left the crowd yelling for more.

Here’s Deadhorse:

That night we headed over to skimkin lake and found an awesome place to camp, but the rain rolled in and ruined the fire.

Tuesday it was still pouring out so we left the campsite and dropped Conner off in salmon arm to meet the bands. We drove on to Merit, because it was the closest place around that didn’t have rain forecasted. We met up with Mullet and Mark, two dudes who used to live in Fort Mac.

Mark let us crash at his place where he lives with his gf Amanda and her mom. We all got bombed playing drinking games.

Here’s Mark lookin’ fresh:

After not showering for 6 days I was smelling like a dirty hobo, showering there was great. On the way out Amanda’s mom gave us home made jam, peaches and a can of her award winning salsa. That salsa was the best shit I have every tasted, I have been putting it on everything.

Wednesday we rode the merit park and trails.

The trails were rad, the big set is towards the right side of this photo:

Then we headed out to a free campsite on a river called N’koya (or something). Campsite is super chill, probably stay another day then move on.

Not sure if were gonna head to van next or what.

July 11

Thursday we drove from Merit to Hope and stayed at an RV park. The place was a rip, we bought a $7 bag of fire wood and it was soaking wet, couldn’t even get a fire going. Our spot was right on a river though, so that was pretty cool.

Hope had an interesting skate park, it must have been built in the 90s. The concrete was like sandpaper and all the transitions were steep.

The snake run:

I should really take some shots of us actually riding these parks…

Saturday we drove to Vancouver.
