Las Vegas

Sept. 12
Monday we checked out of our motel and did some laundry. We also started cleaning all the dust off the inside of the van. Fran helped with the cleaning and remarked that she enjoys cleaning? Oh ya, Fran is doing a round the world trip, her first stop was burning man, I think she said she was heading to New Zealand in a few weeks. Anyways after that we continued to Vegas.

In vegas we stayed at the Sahara, because it was super cheap ($50 each for 4 nights). The next day we met up with Loyd, one  of my drinking buddies from Fort Mac. At this point Loyd had spent all his money, but he was still cruising around on some rascal scooter thing that he had rented. Also met up with my old roommate Topgun(Chris) and his girlfriend Lisa.

I checked out Dream Car Rentals, and I honestly would have shelled out the $900 to rent a Lamborghini for 5 hours, but they said that to rent any Lambo or Ferrari you need to be 26. Weak.
First two days were the usual drinking and gambling. On the third day we hit the gun range, I shot a 12 gauge, an MP-5 and a fully auto AK-47. Letting the AK rip was a blast. After that we hit up a lobster special at the Tropicana, then went out for the night.

The last day we lounged at the pool with Fran for a few hours before saying goodbye(she was headed to LA to stay with some comedian), then later on I met up with Topgun and Lisa for some drinks at the Excalibur. Then we went to Tournament of Kings which is like this medieval joust thing where you get a whole chicken to eat with no utensils. We were sat next to a group of girls who said they were here for belly dancing lessons…
After that we went to the Double Down Saloon, which is the punk bar of Vegas(its tag line is “the anti-Vegas”) It was a rad bar with Black Flag on the juke box, bacon flavoured martinis, and an old hells angel as the door man.
4 days of vegas was enough, even though there were still some things I wanted to check out: indoor sky diving, the Bodies exhibit, etc. But it was hot as hell outside, the heat was brutal. We decided to start driving to the Grand Canyon, then head north, maybe to SLC.

On the way we passed Hoover dam, seeing it in person was nuts, that thing is gigantic.

"think anyone ever jumps off here?"

This bridge is amazing, whenever its done someone should open a bungee jumping buisness there
